Welcome to the online home of the Irish Traditional Music Society, University College Cork.
UCC Trad Society is dedicated to the promotion of Irish Traditional Music in UCC and Cork city and is for for anyone who plays, listens to, or has a remote interest in traditional music.
We hold free weekly concerts that showcase fantastic local Irish traditional musicians on campus in the O'Rahilly Building. We also hold weekly sessions and will be commencing tune swapping sessions campus in the new academic year. These sessions are a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, improve your playing and learn new tunes. Visit the sessions page of our website or click here for more details.
Other less regular events which we will be hosting include, céilís, lectures, workshops, the tune composition competition, a "Battle of the Trad Bands" Competition ,'Trad on Campus Day' and our annual Mystery tour which this year went to Castlemartyr where a mighty night was had by all! In addition to all our weekly activities we hold our annual Tradsoc festival, known as 'TradFest' which is a fantastic event week long event for both students and the general public. Here the best of Irish musicians from around the country are brought together for a few days of concerts, céilis, sessions and much more. This year the festival culminated with the closing night concert which featured famed local band North Cregg supported by winners of the Battle of the Trad Bands competition, Deep RiverRock. A great weekend was had by all. TradFest 2012 dates to be finalised. We'll keep you updated right here.
